The Association of African Universities (AAU) is around 309 members. Africa
has thus at least three hundreds high education institutions.
It needs some space of publications and exchange between its scientists
on one hand, and between them and those of the rest of the world.
The foundation of the Statistics and Probability African Society (SPAS) is committed
to make available African journals of international high level, to the experts in fields linked to stochastic phenomena.
These journal must inculcate to young people the science values of sharing knowlegde by publication and learning scientific rules of writing. The journals also have to strengthen
the culture of scientific publication among the seniors.
However, the journals are destined to the whole world. The quality and the international referencing must attract
authors from the whole world, and from the best scientists.
The journal Afrika Statistika and African Journal of Applied Statistics,
aim to connect Africa to the rest of the world, by the dynamism of scientists from the continent and by the mixing with the orther scientists of the world.
